PROJECT 1: DOCUMENTATION AND ANALYSIS
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
The aim if this project is to expose and introduce us to various construction elements. It also intends to enhance the understanding of principles of construction, sequence of construction activities, importance of basic detailing, construction joints and material application through real life projects. It also creates opportunity for us to study the relationship between site and construction methods.
In a group of eight (8) people in a group, we then have to choose few medium rise or low rise building construction to do our report. Thus in this case, we have chosen two different sites that located in Ampang and Cheras respectively.
Objectives of this project are as follow:
1. To introduce basic principles and precedes of construction process through real life project (experiential learning)
2. To understand the sequence and coordination of construction site
3. To expose students to construction technology/methods responding to site context
4. To allow us, student to demonstrate our understanding and knowledge of construction, material and technology
5. To train us to produce manual sketches, drawings and detailing relating to existing construction.

Throughout this project, I feel this is the real architecture exposure to me, where I am learning through real life view-ing and lead by project manager and explaining to us about building construction. This was a fun project learning for me and besides that, it is a group work thus I can have more moment bonding with my group-mates. Other than that, detailing of each particular element is learned and remembered in my mind in very easy way. One thing I must say is, this is a momentous moment in my architecture course. I hope to have more of this kind of project.
Learning Outcomes of this project are as follow:
1. Produce a complete documentation (pictures, sketches and drawing) and analysis of construction elements
2. Understand and explain construction elements and its components
3. Understand current construction technology on local construction sites
4. Able to explain current material and technology in relevance to present construction industry
PROJECT 2: INTEGRATED CONSTRUCTION SOLUTION
This project is a continuation of the first project integrated project where it involves construction detailing solution for final project in design studio 2. This project is designed to allow the demonstration of knowledge and understanding of construction, application from prior project and emphasis the exercise of producing construction drawing and detail manually.
Objectives of this project are as follow:
1. To develop an understanding of the structural elements in construction and its application in the construction industry
2. To apply suitable construction elements, material and detail/joint solutions suitable for a specific design
3. To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of build ability
4. To demonstrate awareness of how buildings are developed in response to practical considerations
5. To demonstrate certain level of manual drawing and sketching skills
6. To allow us to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of construction, material and technology
7. To encourage us to produce manual sketches, drawings and detailing relating to construction.

Thanks to project one I have done, while doing this project 2, I feel much for easier with basic construction knowledge with me. What I need to do in this project 2 is identify the soil condition on the site for types of foundation used, then types of roof suitable to use in Malaysia and so on.
Learning Outcomes of this project are as follow:
1. Able to select suitable structural elements for Design Studio 2 project
2. Able to design and apply structural element for Design Studio 2 project
