Architecture Design Project

Architectural Design Project is a studio that forms the cap stone project for the B Sc. (Honours) (Architecture) programme, emphasizing on (1) the broad theme of sustaining humanities and (2) resolution of architectural design.

This module is a thematic studio based on the theme of “sustaining humanities’’—architecture for people, place and time. Designing for sustainability has been a fundamental issue for architects in our time within global and regional contexts. In line with the current discourse on sustainability, It upholds the believe that architecture can create better places, that architecture can affect society and humanity, and that it can have a role in making a place civilized by making a community more liveable.

We are required to further develop the proposed design project by their supervisor that reflect the theme and finalize a programme that addresses the needs of the required user group, as well as provide spaces that invite interaction with the surrounding contextual conditions. In addition to the theme of sustaining humanities, the module focuses on the development of our ability to integrate considerations of technology, environment and cultural context in architectural design, and offers a platform for us to develop their own position in developing their individual project. To achieve this aim, the design project is divided into three main phases.

As for me, I have chosen Pudu as my site project as the project is Multi-Faith Centre which attracts me as the first time I hear about it.

PROJECT 1A
As usual, every project started off with site analysis first, in a group of 20, we have come out with a site analysis video.

PROJECT 1B & 1C
FESTIVE AND CULTURAL GAME CENTRE

The Festive and Traditional Game Centre idea is started off when I saw children playing at a vacant parking land next to the busy road. Thus, in this urban design project, the architect is searching for
architectural solutions that respond to local needs, offering practical and simple solution that demonstrate how architecture can serve the greater needs of the society. Therefore, the strategy used in this design is put all the knowledge of the architect to help people by providing healthy living area and aid to rebuild their interactions between local and foreigners.

The main users that the architect is targeting is the youngsters, who has no proper place to hang out around Pudu area. Youngsters needs more attention in terms of growing progress as well as their education as compare to other community which is harder to shape.

Those game artist are invited from different states like Kelantan and Terengganu to each users how to make ‘wau’, ‘congkak’ and etc which require skill workmanship. Hence, accommodation are design for them to stay in the building.

In the building, spaces are categorized into three, public, semi-public and private. High privacy is needed for the artist to rest as it is less visibility. Then semi-public area is where artist and users in the workshop learning specialized skill to gain extra knowledge. While for the public space is the space for public to communicate with one and another.
